What Is Botox?
Botox is short for botulinum toxin. Don’t let the word “toxin” worry you! Botulinum toxin has been highly tested and demonstrated as safe to use. When it is injected into overworked and tense facial muscles, it relaxes them. This smooths out the wrinkles they cause and relaxes the areas. Botox also “freezes” these muscles to help prevent wrinkles from returning.
To begin your Botox treatment, we’ll first dilute the botulinum toxin in saline solution and put it in a syringe. A quick, virtually painless injection into the pre-planned areas of your face is all it takes to make a noticeable difference! Depending on how many injections you’d like, it may take 20 minutes to an hour to complete your treatment.
What Is Juvederm?
Like Botox, Juvederm is used to smooth out the skin and erase wrinkles. However, while Botox is used to relax and “freeze” facial muscles that cause wrinkles, Juvederm is placed underneath the skin to fill in facial features and reduce sagging skin. This injectable dermal filler is typically use for specific wrinkles or issues, such as folds between the nose and mouth, wrinkles between the mouth and chin, and frown lines.
Juvederm uses a natural material called hyaluronic acid, which replaces lost collagen and restores volume when placed beneath the skin at certain depths. It is administered via small, practically painless injections just beneath the top layer of skin to revitalize the area.
