Most people would say no. However, it can be quite difficult to tell if you have this nighttime habit since it primarily occurs when you\u2019re asleep. In fact, many people don\u2019t realize they do until they begin to suffer from some of the serious symptoms it can cause! This unconscious habit is a condition called bruxism, and it can lead to permanent tooth and jaw damage if not treated by your dentist. Knowing what to look out for can go a long way in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinnacle-dental.com\/preventive-dentistry.html\">protecting your smile<\/a>, so let\u2019s take a look at the five most common warning signs of bruxism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.) Sensitive Teeth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tooth sensitivity is a common problem that can be caused by a wide variety of issues, one of which is bruxism. As you grind and clench your teeth, the protective enamel is slowly worn away, which exposes the thin layer of dentin underneath. The dentin is comprised of microscopic tubes that lead to the nerve of the tooth, which makes it very sensitive to hot, cold, sweet, sour, or acidic foods and drinks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.) Chipped or Cracked Teeth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Weakened enamel doesn\u2019t just cause sensitive teeth. It also leaves your teeth vulnerable to chipping and cracking!
